Membership Coordinator

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee(DCCC) serves as the official national Democratic campaign committee charged with recruiting, assisting, funding, and electing Democrats to the U. S. We provide services ranging from designing and helping execute field operations, to polling, creating radio and television commercials, fundraising, communications, and management consulting. The DCCC is supported by the contributions of individuals and other groups from throughout the country.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a creative, talented, and self-motivated individual interested in learning more about marketing and communications. This individual will help the DCCC maximize its capacity for fundraising through its direct mail, telemarketing and online communications. The ideal candidate will be committed to making the DCCC a leader in political fundraising and messaging through its direct mail and web operations.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manages all DCCC online and direct mail donor correspondence;
  • Responsible for responding to all online and offline requests and questions;
  • Answer all phone calls and emails that need a live response;
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting on donor requests and comments;
  • Coordinate any fulfillment of online and offline premiums;
  • Working with outside vendors on acknowledgements to donors, production and delivery;
  • Works with the Accounting and IT departments on the FEC reporting;
  • Manage DCCC monthly giving program through donor requests, changes, and monthly revenue;
  • Support Managing Director of Direct Marketing and team in  an administrative capacity, as needed;
  • Other duties as needed;

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree;
  • Commitment to electing of Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives;
  • Excellent time management, planning, troubleshooting, and communications skills;
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to prioritize and manage multiple projects;
  • Able to work well under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines;

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity working with databases;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel;

Regional Targeting Director

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is hiring a Regional Targeting Director for the 2012 campaign cycle. The Regional Targeting Director will work with the Targeting Director and campaigns in their region to optimize voter contact, mail, and media strategies. These strategies will include vote goals, demographic and geographic goals, universe descriptions and modeling recommendations. The Regional Targeting Director will monitor and analyze incoming data for their campaigns to identify successes and challenges as well as make adjustments when needed. Additionally, the Regional Targeting Director will perform rigorous statistical analysis on both current and historical data.

Preferably, the Regional Targeting Director will be based in Washington, D.C.; however, applicants from all geographic areas will be considered.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Create data profiles for congressional districts, detailing demographics and voter information.
  • Work with Congressional campaigns and state party programs to create voter contact universes.
  • Collaboratively work and effectively communication election data analysis with Congressional campaigns, Democratic Party Committees and other organizations as needed.
  • Coordinate the creation and validation of Congressional support models.
  • Forecast Election Day performance using information from campaigns and internal analytical instruments.
  • Produce daily quantitative reports reflecting progress towards specific goals in targeted districts.
  • Provide data expertise for internal Committee polling.
  • Develop automated systems to assist in these endeavors.
  • Other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and problem solving skills.
  • Statistical, targeting, and data experience in a political or campaign setting is required.  This is not an entry level position.
  • Familiarity with precinct-level and individual level modeling data.
  • Familiarity with web-based voter file tools, such as Catalist and VAN
  • Experience with either of the following (please specify your expertise in your cover letter):
    • Extensive use of Excel (e.g., highly customized pivot tables and graphs) and Access (e.g., table normalization and form creation) or
    • Proficiency in computer programming, specifically with very large data sets.

Accounting/Compliance Assistant

Position Summary:

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee requires an experienced, self-motivated, detail-oriented individual to serve as the Accounting & Compliance Assistant. The ideal candidate will have entry-level experience in accounting.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Accounting Project Management- this includes committee credit cards, employee benefits, payroll and staff reimbursements.
  • Compliance & FEC Responsibilities- this includes working with monthly filing of FEC. Reports and the tracking of various types of committee campaign expenditures.
  • Departmental Coordination- this includes assisting the CFO with projects such as, hiring, training, managing department interns and seasonal staff and maintaining the department calendar and scheduling requests.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in accounting and/or administration
  • Superior time management, planning, organization and communications skills
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to prioritize and manage multiple projects, and work both independently and with other departments in accomplishing goals

Regional Press Secretary

Position Summary:

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is seeking experienced, strategic communicators to be Regional Press Secretaries for the 2012 cycle.  The regional press secretary is responsible for developing relationships with media in targeted congressional districts. The regional press secretary spends a significant amount of time working with individual candidates and campaigns to develop and implement aggressive media strategies, story pitches, writing press releases and talking points, and interview preparation.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing press lists and relationships with media in targeted congressional districts.
  • Serving as DCCC on-the-record spokesperson regionally for DCCC issues and campaigns
  • Writing press releases.
  • Pitching stories.
  • Writing press plans.
  • Working with individual candidates and campaigns on communication strategy, interview preparation, debate preparation, etc.
  • Other duties as needed.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Candidate must pay particular attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at once.
  • Ability to work well with multiple personalities.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Spanish preferred, but not required
  • 2-3 years of on the record experience

Campaign Managers

Position Summary

  • Campaign Managers will be the point person for all major decisions made on the Congressional race;
  • Campaign Managers will be in charge of formulating a winning message for their candidate that connects them with local voters, and draws a sharp contrast from his or her opponent;
  • Campaign Managers will need to manage a multi-million dollar campaign budget;
  • Campaign Managers will have to determine where to target limited resources;
  • Campaign Managers will manage all aspects of the campaign – consultants, finance, press, field, research, new media, and FEC compliance.

Required Skills

  • Candidate must be well-organized, professional, and punctual;
  • Candidate must have to ability to delegate work to his or her team;
  • Candidate must have strong writing and strong communications skills;
  • Candidate must be willing to work long hours;
  • Candidate must function well in collaborative and team-oriented work environments;
  • Candidate must have previous campaign experience, ideally in a variety of positions within a campaign;
  • Candidate must be able to function well in high-stress situations
